The public garden: In the upper town, the panorama visible from the public garden (place aux Arbres) gives insight into the town’s origins. The garden overlooks the castle and the medieval part of the town next to Saint Sulpice church.

Val Nançon Gardens: This recently created 2-hectare garden features a succession of different zones, so the atmosphere changes as you go along. A few allotments have been kept to remind us of former land-use. The semi-spherical structure, a contemporary work of art by Louis-Marie Catta symbolizes different cultures in the world and the dialogue between peoples.

The pathway leads down to the castle either via the Ruelle des Vaux or the Boulevard de Rennes.

These superb grounds were laid out originally in the 19th century, and within them have been planted ten elegant gardens, an invitation you can't refuse to walk, linger and perhaps ponder a while.

Listed as Historical Monument, la Ballue is marked intrinsically by a sense of "wonder" ; a series of gardens rooms, each with its own atmosphere, where designed in harmony with the castle firmly rooted in the baroque culture. Variety and liveliness as characteristic of the baroque garden is archived here by a variation in all structural elements, colour appearance and sounds and in the contemporary statues.

The English-style floral park, creates in 1988, allies flexibility and generosity of plantations: it is what what gives him his personality. The wheel brings an animation by the noise of the water which passes by in front of the washhouse. All year succeeds one another the symphony of camélies, bulbs, rhododendrons, hostas, rosebushes, long-lived, hydrangeas there: more than 3000 varieties of plants, trees or shrubs are proposed in the visit. The ancient farm of the XIXth century gives an additional originality to places and completes pleasantly the visit.

The castle, rebuilt in 1885, is in the middle of a park designed by Bühler. It is a mixture of a landscape garden and a French-style garden. The pond, which is surrounded by red beeches, can be crossed by the two wooden bridges. It is a pleasant place to while away the time day-dreaming.
