The area around Fougères is full of forests and woods (Fougères, Haute-Sève and Rumignon woods in St Aubin du Cormier, Villecartier Forest in Bazouges-la-Pérouse, La Motte woods in St Brice en Coglès). All are suitable for walking and various other outdoor activities.

This site presents a mosaic of different natural habitats (woodlands, marshes, meadows, peat bogs) and is therefore very rich from the ecology point of view.

Roland's leap

In the borough of Dompierre du Chemin, Roland’s leap was the first sensitive natural space on the Breton Marchlands. The dramatic landscape, with its high cliffs, reaching 173m and the wooded slopes leading to the valley floor and Saint Blaise’s stream will stimulate the walker’s or rock-climber’s imagination.

You will be surprised by the well-preserved « bocage » landscape, with its magnificent hedges, its narrow lanes with high embanked hedges on either side, woods, meadows, crops. Granite boulders lie strewn across the landscape. Departure point: Mouilin de Colas. Ajoncs d’or room. Length: 6 or 10 km, time: 3 hours. Signs: a yellow line 70 % of the paths are on earth or ballast |

Green ways
Green ways are routes that have been specially laid out and made safe for pedestrians and non-motorized means of transport. Starting from the Jardin des Fêtes in Fougères, there are two possible routes: one to Antrain and the other to Louvigné.
